October Roundup

This month was amazing. My hubby and I were able to travel to California sans kids and it was everything we wanted and more. I will write a separate blog post about our trip but here is my monthly roundup:

  1. Run the Naked Bavarian 40 mile race on March 4, 2017  –  Done.  Read race recap here if you missed it.
  2. Raise $5,000 for Covenant House Pennsylvania – Done March 3, 2017
  3. Run the Dirty German 50 mile race on May 13, 2017 – finished the 25K, it was during a Nor’easter and simply miserable.  It just wasn’t mean’t to be.
  4. Lose the baby weight (starting weight 140) – So the good news is I didn’t gain weight in October but the bad new is I didn’t lose any either.  Considering we were on vacation, I am going to call this a win!
  5. Rock Climb More – Boom we went to Birdsboro and made it happen – outside too!!Climbing
  6. Travel More – Like I said, we were just in California and it was amazing and a blog post is coming  – I even already started it!
  7. Blog More – I have learned that I need more specific goals for this and have already started planning my 2018 goals – coming soon!
  8. One small house project a month – Nothing.  Again.  I don’t even know what to say here.  I am working on the house but not really keeping track of it like I thought I could.
  9. Declutter –  I was able to sell a bunch of baby and maternity gear on Facebook marketplace and make some extra cash at the same time.  I also donated most of the items from my MIL and they were happy to have it and I was happy to get rid of it. My goal is to get rid of 1,000 items in the month of November – say what?!?  Here goes nothing.
  10. Spend less – We went to California which was not cheap but we had saved for it and since we spend the majority of our lives saving, its nice to spend some coin once in a while.

Overall I am learning that while some of my goals for the year were very specific, many were not which definitely affected my ability to complete them or care to even complete them.  So for 2018 I am going to be much more focused with my goals but I still have 2 months left for 2017 so wish me luck on getting shit done!

September Roundup

This month was was a blur.  I got rid of some stuff, didn’t exercise enough and could use some overall motivation.

  1. Run the Naked Bavarian 40 mile race on March 4, 2017  –  Done.  Read race recap here if you missed it.
  2. Raise $5,000 for Covenant House Pennsylvania – Done March 3, 2017
  3. Run the Dirty German 50 mile race on May 13, 2017* – finished the 25K
  4. Lose the baby weight (starting weight 140) – So I kicked butt in August and I loosened up my no sugar rule and now I am up to 132.  So here goes another sugar free-ish month. We are going to Sonoma and wine is not sugar-free.
  5. Rock Climb More – Nope it didn’t happen this month.
  6. Travel More – We are traveling to San Francisco for a wedding this month and visiting family in Florida for December.
  7. Blog More – Its not happening.  I need a better plan for 2018.
  8. One small house project a month – I was on the roof of my house.  The ROOF..  I nearly crapped my pants but we saved $1,600.  We installed a new chimney liner.  Yeah I didn’t know the chimney had a liner until I had to replace it.  Here is a handy video from This Old House if you want to know what we did.  Except it took us 10+ hours to get it done.  And here is proof that I was on the roof:Gladysontheroof
  9. Declutter –  I donated a bunch of things to our daycare and had The Red Cross pickup 8 boxes for donations.  I also got rid of a highchair and a large pot.  I am having a tough time decluttering because my in-laws just got rid of their family home and now things are appearing at home regularly so this category is going to be my focus for the remainder of the year.
  10. Spend less – We did pretty good in this category although my husband’s beer trading has been on my eye lately.  But I have to admit when I am enjoying ridiculously delicious beer, I tend to forget his overspending in this category.   To make up for his overspending, I did a focus group regarding credit cards which paid for most of my last BJ’s grocery/household haul. Score!

July Roundup

I am thoroughly embarrassed at the lack of exercise this month.  What can I say? My husband started a new job that requires him in much earlier and my job just got hella more demanding.  It was a lose lose for my exercise time.  Either way, here’s my recap for the month:

  1. Run the Naked Bavarian 40 mile race on March 4, 2017  –  Done.  Read race recap here if you missed it.
  2. Raise $5,000 for Covenant House Pennsylvania – Done March 3, 2017
  3. Run the Dirty German 50 mile race on May 13, 2017* – finished the 25K, blog post still pending.
  4. Lose the baby weight (starting weight 140) – So last month I reported a 3 lb loss and I am here to say I am back up 2 lbs to 135 lbs.  Summer is the worst time for me to lose weight.  Too many tempting occasions to enjoy a cocktail and eat delicious food.  What can I say? #sorrynotsorry
  5. Rock Climb More – We took my oldest nephew rock climbing, he loved and it! So I climbed once that counts right?!?
  6. Travel More – We are living it up in LBI, follow me on instagram for fun in the sun pics
  7. Blog More – Wah Wah Wah!  As you can tell this did not happen?!
  8. One small house project a month – So along with the patio job last month we had to redo the columns which were on temporary support beams until a couple of days ago.  So that was a not so small project that basically my husband did but I watched the kids and helped with the clean up. A bit of a stretch much?!?
  9. Declutter –   So here’s one thing I rocked this month! I got rid of a baby chair, giant pregnancy pillow, 2 baby carriers, baby jumper and a wooden cabinet.  There’s a bit more space in my basement and a bit more cash in my wallet.  Winner winner chicken dinner!
  10. Spend less – We blew the budget again this month:  The supplies for the front porch were over $600 and my husband needed new contacts and a new mouth guard.  Adulting is expensive.

I’m not even going to pretend I will get to blogging this month, see ya’ll in August
