December Roundup

I know… I know.. I already posted my New Years Resolutions for 2017 so who cares about how I did in 2016?!  Well here goes any way.  Better late than never:

  1. Write a blog – with at least two posts a week – I didn’t write twice a week but I wrote enough to feel accomplished so I am checking this one off the list!
  2. Run 500 miles – I may have to reduce this depending on how I feel with this pregnancy but let’s shoot for the stars for now  Completed December 29, 2016🙂  Finished the year at 520 miles to be exact.
  3. Save $6,000 by the end of June – $1,000 a month here we go!  Boom! Completed April 2016!!
  4. Finish one 12 week session of Kayla Itsines Beach Body Workout – this was on my 2015 goals but running took precedence – Just like every other time I have made this my goal, running took over.  I don’t really feel bad about it.  I think I keep putting this goal on my NY Resolutions thinking it will get done if its on here but that doesn’t seem to work either so I am just not going to worry about it.  It’s obviously not that important to me.
  5. Side Hustle – Sell 60 items – hoping this can supply my cash spending for the year Boom Completed July 2016!!  I did really well here because I kept at it even after I achieved my goal.  I am definitely going to keep this going just not going to keep as much track of it.
  6. Finish my Real Estate License – Online classes and I just don’t get along.  I have to find another way.
  7. Call my mother once a week – I hate talking on the phone – I didn’t call her as much as I should have but I did fly her up three times from Florida so I think that makes up for the lack of calls.  What can I say I hate the phone.
  8. Help my hubby accomplish his climbing goals –  On December 29th he finished up this goal.  Boom.

So overall I finished 6 of my 8 goals and I had a baby last year so I would say I kicked ass.  2016 was good to me and I am finally starting to feel like myself again.  Thanks for following along.  Special thanks to my hubby for helping me get these goals done and for this pretty picture:end-of-the-year

Thanks to a Stranger

I run by feel.  If I am feeling good, I tend to run longer faster.  Yesterday I set out on my run after finally getting my toddler and baby down for naps and almost falling asleep myself. My initial intention was to go out for an hour since last week was so shitty I wanted to try to get at least 5 miles.  So I started out at about a 12 minute pace. The air was cool and I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt but it felt great.  I headed towards the local high school where there is a 1 mile loop that feels like a trail even though its paved.  Its quite beautiful with lots of foliage.  My plan was to run there and see how I felt, if I was feeling good, I would add more loops.

Have I mentioned how competitive I am?  Well I am very competitive almost to a fault.  So while I was finishing up what was supposed to be my final loop (I had done about a loop and a half)  I noticed a woman running in the opposite direction running quite fast.  Her form was terrible she looked awkward and was over exaggerating all of her movements.  It looked like so much more effort than necessary.  But she was kicking my ass.  Although she was running in the opposite direction she was running so much faster than me so I started to run faster.  I figured I could use a swift kick in the ass after last week.  So I started to run faster and found myself catching up with her earlier and earlier.  At that point I realized it had been an hour since I had left so I should probably start heading home.  But the faster pace felt great.  My legs felt strong so I took the long way home and added an extra mile.  Throughout my run I paid very little attention to my pace.  So when I got home and realized I had run a full minute faster for my 5th, 6th and 7th miles, I was ecstatic!  fitbit-11-13

Maybe the week off of running wasn’t the most terrible thing –  Hello 10:30 pace, how I have missed you.  So shout out to that random woman who made me realize that I still had it in me.

Happy Monday!
