February Roundup

February 2018 – Getting Shit Done

February was TOUGH.   I was literally awake on Super Bowl Sunday at 1 am with a kid who had thrown up all over himself.  My kids were sick every week including a week when my husband was away for work, I had 3 Wisdom teeth removed which I had been putting off for years but as far as my goals are concerned I KILLED IT.  I keep track of everything in my trusty handy dandy calendar and just so you know, pink = workout. Boom.

Health

  1. Running – become a better runner – faster, stronger, longer
  2. Fitness –
    • Finish BBG – 12 weeks cycle repeatedly throughout the year – I finished my first ever 12 week cycle! Boom.  This has been on my list since 2015
    • Workout 85% of the year (311 days) at least 35 minutes a day – So I am currently behind on this goal I have missed 10 days so far this year so I am currently at 83% but I have many months left to catch back up.
    • 100,000 steps every week – Done.
  3. Diet
    • Strive for a plants based diet – I have successfully made a couple of vegetarian meals that were even approved by my hubby so I call that a win.
    • No adding sugar – Black coffee is not my friend but I still drink that bitch.

Home

  1. Kids
    • More sleep – bed time routine – We started the year really well with this but recently we’ve been falling off track. Gotta get back at it.
    • Better food – work in more veggies all around – I am starting these Zucchini muffins – this goal is a serious uphill battle so this is a start but its going to be  a battle.
    • Clean up own toys –  This hasn’t really worked but we were focusing on health this month.
  2.  Projects
    • Build a Walk in closet for Master Bedroom – DONE DONE DONE  – Check this out:  Walk-in Closet.jpg
    • Power wash the house in the spring
    • Plant new bushes where the old ones were
    • Sand and re-stain our front door
    • Paint or stain book shelf in garage
    • Finish painting furniture in basement
    • Start refinishing basement
  3. Clutter
    • Basement – there is stuff everywhere, it has to go
    • Toys – stop buying and get rid of more
    • Baby Stuff – sell or donate
    • Empty Cedar closet
    • Coats – too many in the closet
    • Cloths – need to fit all in the Walk-in closet including shoes – Almost done.  I have many suits from working in NYC in my 20’s that I either need to donate or move into the walk-in closet
    • Guest Bedroom – Sell all furniture and reorganize
  4. Cleaning
    • Wash all dishes before going to bed – I would say I am about 75% on top of this but currently there are last nights dishes in my sink and I am not happy about it.
    • Come up with a cleaning schedule and stick to it  – still need to get this done.
    • Laundry – 6 days a week do something with laundry – I am about 90% on top of this right now.  Mainly due to one of my children who had explosive poops for about a week straight – good times.

Tomorrow I will be tackling the Naked Bavarian again although this time, I am just doing the 20 miler.  Wish me luck!!

Boom.  Let’s do this.

May Roundup

It’s amazing how you can have a plan in your head of how you want your month to go and this 30 lb little tyrant can take over every aspect of your life including your thoughts, emotions and anxiety.  My three year old is giving a run for our money in parenting.  He’s been a little demon at school.  Kicking, biting, hitting, spitting his classmates and even teachers.  We have tried everything but nothing seems to be working.  We have involved the county’s early intervention team but now its a waiting game for an appointment.  So to say my son’s behavioral problems have thrown me for a loop would be an understatement.  Its been a challenging month and normally I would be pretty embarrassed by the results below but its been a fucking hard month and there is no shame in my game.

  1. Run the Naked Bavarian 40 mile race on March 4, 2017  –  Done.  Read race recap here if you missed it.
  2. Raise $5,000 for Covenant House Pennsylvania – Done March 3, 2017
  3. Run the Dirty German 50 mile race on May 13, 2017* – my last blog post was right before this race.  There was a Nor’easter in Philly that day.  I completed the 25K and I am going to call this one done with an asterisk because that was the hardest 15.5 miles of my life and I will one day write up a race report about it.
  4. Lose the baby weight (starting weight 140) – Scale hasnt moved since January but the reality is other than running a ton earlier in the year I haven’t really tried.  So I am on day three of using myfitnesspal and I already feel better.  Going to put my head down and focus more on what I am putting in my body.  Because lets be honest, you can’t outrun a bad diet.
  5. Rock Climb More – Climbed once at the PRG with my hubby so that counts right?!?
  6. Travel More – We canceled our trip to Niagara Falls, it was supposed to rain all weekend but it ended up being fine.  Normally I would have been annoyed but we had a great weekend at home and got to get some stuff done around the house.  Plus we have Ft. Myers beach coming up!!! without the kids – what?!? Yes this is happening and I am very excited for it!!!
  7. Blog More – I sucked this month.  Working on it for next month.  Its been a hard month.
  8. One small house project a month – We finished our kitchen ceiling and no I didn’t take pictures because that bitch got done one day before having 40 people over for my sons joint birthday party so much for that blog post!
  9. Declutter –   I am steadily getting rid of stuff about 1 donation pickup every other week but I need to step up my game.  Too much stuff in the house still.
  10. Spend less – We spent more than I care to admit on food for my kids birthdays but I love a good party and while it was mayhem, we had a great time.  So no qualms about that.

Excited for June.  Farewell May, you bitch, I used to love you.
